The Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) at USF Law School is committed to promoting, serving and representing the interests of the Asian Pacific American law student community. APALSA has over a 25 year history of being one of the most active groups at the USF School of Law. We represent the diversity of experiences and cultures present in our membership and collectively address the contemporary legal issues that affect Asian Pacific Americans. We strive to create opportunities to facilitate interactions between students, active practitioners, and the Bay Area Asian Pacific American community. We seek to provide opportunities through education, programs, services, and collaboration with local Asian Bar Associations that meet the specific concerns and the needs of the USF Asian Pacific American law students.
Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA)

The Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) USF student chapter caters to students interested in trial work. The group focuses on exposing members to opportunities for career advancement in trial work and to improve individual trial skills. ATLA is the world’s largest trial bar with close to 60,000 attorney members. ATLA promotes justice and fairness through the protection of the right to trial by jury and strengthens the civil justice system through education and disclosure of information critical to public health and safety. ATLA law student members have access to a number of benefits and programs designed to advance their professional education and growth, including ATLA’s Mentor Program, ATLA’s Student Trial Advocacy Competition, Law Student Education Programs, as well as various scholarships and awards. In addition, ATLA holds two annual conferences in different locations within the United States.

Black Law Students Association (BLSA)

The Black Law Students Assocation, BLSA, is a nationwide non-profit organization that focuses on addressing the concerns of Black law students and fostering a connection between the members of BLSA and the local community. The purposes of BLSA are multi-faceted. Some include providing Black law students with a forum for expressing their unique needs and concerns; ensuring retention of all Black law students, specifically incoming first years; develop future Black leadership; and to foster a connection between the members of BLSA and the BLSA alumni active in the local legal community.

The USF Business Law Association was founded in an effort to create and

the organization's members and USF at large. The BLA is currently comprised

The Journal of Law & Social Challenges is a student-run journal that provides legal scholars, practitioners, advocates, and students with a neutral forum for addressing pressing issues of social justice that currently face legislative and judicial scrutiny. Each volume of JLSC is thematic in nature and includes an array of perspectives that explore all the shades of gray in order to provide a more holistic approach to important legal and social dilemmas. Previous volumes have covered topics such as the Role of Profiling in American Society, Affirmative Action, Sex Equality in the Military, and Genetic Engineering and the Human Future. JLSC helps the law school impart a message of public interest and is a valuable tool for effectuating social policies by means of legal analysis.

Moot Court is a student-run organization responsible for the development of USF's intramural oral advocacy program. Each Fall, Moot Court organizes and oversees the Advocate of the Year Competition, a school-wide advocacy competition open to all students who have successfully completed the Spring Moot Court program. Each Spring, Moot Court runs the Spring Moot Court program, a required part of the first-year curriculum in which students are taught appellate brief writing and oral advocacy skills.

The National Lawyers Guild is an association dedicated to the need for basic change in the structure of our legal and economic systems. We seek to unite lawyers, law students and legal workers in an organization that shall function as as an effective political and social force in the service of the people, to the end that human rights shall be regarded as more sacred than property rights. The Pilipino American Law Society was created to share and address Pilipino American community-specific legal and social issues, as well as to help retain and recruit more Pilipino Americans into the legal profession. Our group not only provides career panels, special guest speakers and movie nights, we act as a liason for USF students and the Filipino American Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC), award a scholarship for lawbooks, and host the Annual Karaoke Challenge. Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, established in the year 1869 to promote a higher standard of professional ethics, is among the oldest of legal organizations in North America. The Fraternity was established only six months after the Columbus, Ohio Bar Association and nine years before the American Bar Association. It holds a unique position in the history of the North American bench, bar and the law schools. During the past three decades, Phi Delta Phi's reputation as an organization devoted to legal excellence has begun to spread into México and Europe. Stephens Inn at the University of San Francisco, established in 1959, was re-activated in January of 2005 after 6 years of dormancy.

The University of San Francisco Student Animal Legal Defense Fund is a Bay Area law student organization ascribing to the goals of our larger parent organization the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF). Every day, ALDF works to protect animals by: Providing free legal assistance to prosecutors handling cruelty cases; Maintaining a database of animal abuse crimes across the country; Working to strengthen state anti-cruelty statutes; Encouraging the federal government to enforce existing animal protection laws; Nurturing the future of animal law through Student Animal Legal Defense Fund chapters; Educating the public through seminars, workshops and other outreach efforts; Supporting lawsuits that explore important issues and expand the boundaries of animal law.

The USF Law Review is a student-run organization staffed and managed by
students of the University of San Francisco School of Law. Its primary
purpose is to publish a journal of legal scholarship. Since 1966, the Review has served as USF’s voice in the ongoing academic debate regarding the
evolution of law. The Review publishes four issues each year. Each issue is
typically comprised of four articles by professors and practitioners and three student notes and/or comments. All articles are subjected to a
rigorous editorial process in order to strengthen substance, polish tone,
and ensure citation accuracy. Subscriptions to the Review are held by judicial, municipal, and state libraries nationally and internationally. The
Review is also available on Westlaw and Lexis.
