Loans

An education loan is a form of financial aid that must be repaid, with interest. (Grants and scholarships, on the other hand, do not have to be repaid.)

At USF, Education loans come in three major categories:

  1. Student loans (Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans, Federal Direct Graduate PLUS loans, and undergraduate Perkins/Nursing loans)
  2. Parent loans (Federal Direct parent PLUS loans)
  3. Private student loans (also called alternative student loans).
