Honor Your Mother, Honor a Nurse

Nurses’ Week: May 6-12, 2012

National Nurses Week is celebrated each year to honor those who have chosen the nursing profession as a career and to highlight the many and diverse ways that nurses contribute to the high quality patient care.

The celebration begins on May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, and continues through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale., the founder of modern nursing. Nursing continues to be the most highly respected occupation in the United States and is the largest of the health care professions with more than 2.9 million registered nurses currently practicing.

Mother’s Day: May 13, 2012

Mother's Day started nearly 150 years ago. Each year the President of the United States issues a proclamation to honor mothers and pay tribute to their devoted work and selfless gift of love. Mother’s Day marks this occasion and provides an appropriate vehicle for children to honor their mothers.

The University of San Francisco School of Nursing offers an invitation to honor your mother, to honor nurses, and in particular, to honor your mother who is a nurse! So many nurses are our mothers  and so many of our mothers are nurses. We offer this opportunity to pay homage to these women by making a donation in their honor to the School of Nursing at the University of San Francisco.
Please join us in honoring your mother who is a nurse. A lovely Mother’s Day card will be sent to your mother, acknowledging this special honor. Your donation will go toward scholarships to help educate the next generation of nurses, many of who will be the mothers of the next generation.
