Guatemala Immersion Program

A two-week long immersion trip to San Lucas Toleman, Guatemala is for Nursing and Health Professions students to serve as assistants to local midwives and clinicians where they attend births, administer prenatal exams, and offer courses in health education.

This immersion experience is part of a semester long nursing prerequisite entitled, “Global Issues and Community Health”. This course and the post immersion reflection session are designed to ensure that this field experience is part of a larger and integrated learning initiative.

If you have any questions or are interested in this study immersion trip, please contact Dr. Linda Walsh, Associate Professor,
