USF/SONHP faculty and our Vietnam partners have much to learn from each other. Vietnam nurse educators teaching abilities will be enhanced by experiencing and practicing student-centric learning. USF/SONHP faculty practice will be enhanced by a more thorough understanding of Eastern health care practices.
Currently, US citizens are spending over $12 billion USD on Eastern health practices. Therefore, US nurses must be better prepared to understand Eastern health care techniques and practices. Faculty from USF/SON have traveled to Hanoi to work at Bach Mai and Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine. Dr. Thuc Le Ba, the vice-director of the Bach Mai Nursing School visited USF/SONHP in September 2009 to observe how we educate nurses in the US. He also provided lectures to faculty and students regarding nursing education and practice in Vietnam.
