25
Years: Remembering
George Moscone and Harvey Milk.
Event Details: Execution
of Justice
Emily
Mann's Execution of Justice is based on trial transcripts,
reportage, and interviews based on the assassination of San Francisco
Mayor George Moscone, Supervisor Harvey Milk, and the trial of
Dan White. Told with documentary-style elegance, the play includes
a variety of characters from San Francisco’s past and illuminates
the famous trial that changed San Francisco’s history forever.
Students
in the USF Performing Arts and Social Justice major are producing
the play. The program – the only one of its kind in the
nation – combines the arts with an emphasis on social justice.
Professional actor Mark Rafael will play the role of defense attorney
Douglas Schmidt.
The
play opens at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov.
6 and continues on November 7, 8, 13-15 at
7pm. A matinee will be held on Thursday, November
13 at 2pm.
