Free and open to the general public

The University of San Francisco is hosting its 7th Human Rights Film Festival. We believe in the power of film to educate about human rights violations and encourage citizens to take action. We know that committed citizens can help to stop these abuses.

This year, the Festival will take place on February 24, 25, and 26 and
will include films focusing on Chile, Iraq, Afghanistan, Argentina,
Mexico, Congo, and the U.S., and a selection of USF students’ shorts.
The festival will feature an interview with Alex Gibney, an award
winning film director and producer. Gibney will also lead a Q&A session
after the screening of his film Taxi to the Dark Side, winner of the
2008 Oscar for best documentary. Director Alex Rivera will introduce his
film Sleep Dealer and lead a Q&A session and director David Zlutnick
will be present to discuss his film Dos Americas: The Reconstruction of
New Orleans.

Admission to each of the films is free and open to the general public. As with past editions, our goals are to promote awareness and discussion of global human rights issues and explore challenges to human rights in specific locations.

Furthermore, this festival seeks to strengthen the University's links with Bay Area human rights organizations, which we invite to participate in educating festival audiences. We encourage these organizations to disseminate their publications to our audiences prior to each screening.
