California University on Track to Cut Power Consumption 20-25%

Adding fuel cells. Fuel cells turn natural gas into heat and electricity with virtually no pollution and no noise. Each can produce 200kw of electricity, enough to power a typical University building. They also create hot water which will be used for hot water needs and heating. |

Replacing hundreds of incandescent light bulbs at individual desks with screw-in fluorescent bulbs. |

Sponsoring an energy saving contest in the residence halls. Winning halls will have money donated in their name to help pay the electric bills of indigent citizens. |
