Former Costa Rican President, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate to Talk at USF

Oscar Arias Lecture Focuses on War on Terrorism

Lecture: Human Rights & An International Code of Conduct.
Topics will include September 11, the war on terrorism, and human rights

Who:

Oscar Arias is considered the main architect of the peace plan in Central America during the turbulent ’80s, when the region was devastated by strife and civil war. Arias’ efforts led to a peace accord signed in Guatemala in 1987 and he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize the same year.

In 1988, the created the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Development, which is based in San Jose, Costa Rica.
