Campus Progress Action Grants
Join our national network of engaged progressive students! Apply for a Campus Progress action grant today.
Campus Progress, a project of the Center for American Progress, works to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide; counter the growing influence of right-wing groups on campus; and empower new generations of progressive leaders. As part of that project, we are offering Campus Progress Action Grants to help support young people working to make a difference.
Right-wing organizations spend nearly $40 million a year on campus outreach efforts - in part, helping to fund, mentor and support conservative activist groups. Too often, progressive students have been left to fend for themselves. With Campus Progress Action Grants, we want to help students leverage their passion, creativity, ideas, and organizing talents to create progressive change on their campuses and in their communities. Whether it's working to promote clean energy on your campus; to advocate for a living wage at your school or in your state; to stand up against extremist judges and abuse of power in Washington; to fight genocide in Sudan; etc., Campus Progress wants to assist the most creative and energetic issue campaigns across America. (The Center for American Progress is a nonprofit educational organization. Grant funds can be used only for public educational purposes; you may not use the funds to support candidates or political parties, and only a limited number and portion of grants may be used for lobbying Congress, state legislatures, or local councils. The Center for American Progress will award grants in its sole discretion. Grantees will be selected based on the creativity and importance of their campaigns and their potential for effectively bringing about positive change.)
Recipients of Campus Progress Action Grants not only will receive funding for education and advocacy campaigns; they also will receive communications and messaging strategy and support from Campus Progress / Center for American Progress staff and access to policy experts on their issue. We will mainly support projects run by undergraduates, although we welcome applications from graduate students. We are looking to support students and campus organizations who can demonstrate commitment and achievement. In the start-up phase for this program, our grants will range from $200 to $1,000.
