Seal of the Department of State.

The University of San Francisco and The School of Business and Professional Studies were selected recently to provide the focal point for a global conversation among entrepreneurs from around the world.

As a direct result of President Obama’s Presidential Summit On Entrepreneurship, the U.S. Department of State has created a professional exchange program of 30 leading entrepreneurs from 30 different countries.

Hosted at USF by Cari Guittard, Executive Director of Business for Diplomatic Action and an Adjunct Professor in the MBA Program at USF School of Business and Professional Studies — as well as Dean Mike Duffy, and Professor Carlos Baradello, Associate Dean and BPS Director of International Programs — delegates spent a full day at USF, culminating in a featured panel discussion.  A private reception preceded the discussion, with remarks by Joel Ayala, Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Ms. Joanna Rees, Founder of VSP Capital and Candidate for Mayor of San Francisco.

Delegates engaged in educational experiences and cultural engagement, as well as peer-to-peer sharing, mentoring, and long-term relationship building amongst themselves and with leading American entrepreneurs, business executives, government officials, civil society leaders, and key academic/industry figures such as Professor Baradello, who spoke on the subject of “born global” internationalization of start-up firms, as well as on the challenges and opportunities of multi-cultural marketing.

USF was selected as the hosting venue to highlight the session’s goal to provide delegates with insights on the entrepreneurial spirit, and how what happens in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley region profoundly affects global entrepreneurship.
