Dr. Charles Geschke at the White House to receive The National Medal of Technology and Innovation, October, 2009.

USF School of Business and Professional Studies Dean Mike Duffy announced today that Dr. Charles M. Geschke, Founder and Co-Chairman of Adobe Systems, will become the inaugural occupant of the Rev. P. Carlo Rossi, SJ Entrepreneurial Chair.

The endowed chair is the gift of Dr. C. Allen Wall, MD, USF’47 and his brother, the late Dr. Bob Wall, MD, USF ’54 in honor of their uncle Fr. P. Carlo Rossi, SJ the founder of the Romance Language Department at USF, an internationally-known scholar of philology and teacher of languages, and a priest who served the University of San Francisco for five decades.

Dr. Geschke, with his partner John Warnock, founded Adobe and catalyzed the “desktop revolution” with the invention of Postscript, followed by the release of Photoshop, Flash, and PDFs.  In October of 2009, the two partners were awarded the The National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Obama at a White House ceremony.
