School of Business and Professional Studies’ Students — BUS301 (The Legal Environment of Business, aka "Business Law") — joined alumni and USF Law students to support Warm Wishes and MarinLink, a program that this holiday season is providing 5,000 “StreetPacks” — which are individual fanny packs containing a hat, scarf, rain poncho, pair of socks and gloves, as well as a holiday note made by Marin County grammar school students— free to homeless people on the Bay Area streets.  Student volunteers assisted in packing the StreetPacks, as well as delivering 350 packs to the St. Vincent de Paul Community Dining Room and 250 packs to Ritter House/Center in San Rafael; 100 packs to St. Anthony's Dining Room and 250 packs to Glide Memorial Church in the Tenderloin District, and 40 packs to the Asian Women's Shelter in San Francisco.

Anh Phan, a 23-year-old business administration student from Vietnam who came with the group, said she welcomed the opportunity to help the poor.

'Especially in San Francisco, there's a lot of homeless on the street," Phan said.

A group of about 50 current and former University of San Francisco students drove to Novato to join their professor David Griffis, of Marinwood, in helping out for the sixth consecutive year.

Griffis said volunteer work complements their academic studies: "I had a professor years ago who used to say, 'It's not what you have at the end of the day. It's what you share along the way,'" he said.
