Professor Stanley Kwong--Managing Director and Term Professor, Greater China Program--has assembled a remarkable guest speaker series featuring a wide range of experts in the Globalization of Chinese Business representing the arts, health, IT, finance, China-US trade, and government agencies.
Recent and upcoming speakers include:
1. James Zhang, Chairman of the Concept Art House, San Francisco/Shanghai , Concept Art House develops “Game characters and Scenes” for online games and motion videos. They have grown from 6 employees to over 100 employees in 3 years with operations in both San Francisco and in Shanghai’s YANGPU Knowledge and Innovation Community. Concept Art House is going thru the 3rd round of funding this month.
2. Mr. John Hitchcock, VP Sales & Marketing, Objectiva Software Solutions. Objectiva Software Solutions is a leading provider of software outsourcing services from China. Objectiva's teams have been delivering projects and building dedicated Offshore Development Centers in China since 2001. With facilities in San Diego, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Beijing and Xian, China, Objectiva helps clients develop customized enterprise software solutions, web based and client-server applications, and software for the wireless Internet.
3. Mr. Jason Chang, Director of Microsoft Health Solutions Beijing, China. Mr. Jason Chang comes from a long distinguished background of working in the Health and IT Industries in both the US and China. Jason spoke on the current status of Microsoft China, and the growth of the Health Industry
4. Mr. Ben Christensen, Director, Silicon Valley Bank Capital Group. Ben spoke about Silicon Valley Bank as a global financial institution. He also discussed private equity, venture capital fund investments, and the China venture capital market.
5. Meredith Ludlow, Vice President at Pacific Epoch, an independent financial research firm focused exclusively on China. Meredith will be speaking about US China trade, the China Capital Market and also China Investment Research.
6. Jeff Leung, Director, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco. Jeff will speak on Hong Kong's free trade policy and its unique advantages as the two-way platform for overseas companies to access the China market and for Chinese companies to go global.
7. George Huertas, Vice President of the Venture Services Group runs the wealth-management practice at Merrill Lynch. This group has been servicing VC firms since 1991. This long history has led to the development of a wealth-management platform to address the unique needs of the VC community. George will be speaking on "Global Re-balancing and Investments in Emerging Countries".
8. Mr. Thomas M. Chin, Co-Founder of the Chiic Group International, Shanghai, China (USF Alumnus)
Mr. Tom Chin has over 25 years experience as a corporate executive, entrepreneur, strategic planner, financier, supply chain manager, and manufacturer. Besides co-founding and managing companies in the United States, Japan, and China, Tom has worked on special projects for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Quoted frequently in the media for his expertise in capital markets and doing business with China, Tom is also a familiar presence on television and has appeared on CBS's Pacific Currency and ABC's Wall Street Today.
Tom has lectured at U.C. Berkeley's Haas MBA School of Business and here at the University of San Francisco's School of Business and Professional Studies on China Market Entry Strategies, China Supply Chain Management Solutions and Execution, and China Operating Issues. Mr. Chin has also lectured on U.S. Capital Markets, Competitive Intelligence and Knowledge Management in Shanghai and Beijing, a series sponsored by the United Nations. He is the founder of "China Focus", a briefing forum on China's trends and developments and is a frequent speaker at numerous International Symposiums.

Professor Kwong’s own work experience includes extensive, on-the-ground international business experience, having spent 29 years doing business in the US, China, India and Eastern Europe. Professor Kwong retired from IBM in 2009 where he was the Worldwide Director for IBM Developers Marketing.
