USF's Hospitality Management Association club held its 11th annual walk-a-thon to raise money for women's cancer research on April 16. The event was conceived to honor the former wife of Program Director Tom Costello, who’s illness and eventual death by cancer are still felt as a tremendous loss to students, faculty and staff alike.
The event traditionally takes place at the Golden Gate Bridge. Box brunches are provided, and the event is an example of the Hospitality Industry Program’s commitment to service.
This year organizers set of goal of raising $4,000 to support UCSF's Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Care Center, with 100 percent of donations going to research.
