SF mayor Ed Lee with Vivien Liu, USF MBA Student and currently an intern at ChinaSF.

The USF School of Business and Professional Studies’ Globalization of Chinese Business Program had a strong presence at this year’s ChinaSF Lunar New Year Celebration 2011.  The event, held at the law offices of K&L Gates, was a further demonstration of the strong relationship between Chinese businesses and the city of San Francisco, and our school’s deep commitment to the development of Chinese Business in the Bay Area through educational leadership and professional interchange.

Our contingent — lead by Professor Stanley Kwong, Managing Director/Term Professor, of our Greater China, and Globalization of Chinese Business Programs — met with SF Mayor Edwin Lee, ChinaSF Board Co-Chair/SF Assessor-Recorder Phil Ting, and Chinese Consulate-General in San Francisco Gao Zhansheng.   Included in the USF BPS group were:     USF MBA Candidate,  Vivien Liu, who is currently on ChinaSF’s staff; USF MBA Candidates Eunice Yeh and Lola Cataro; USF MA Economics candidate Chenli Qu; and USF alumna Xintong Zhang who is also a member of the ChinaSF staff.

San Francisco's ChinaSF initiative was established by the San Francisco Office of Economic and Work Force Development to help Chinese companies in every stage of the decision-making and relocation process.  ChinaSF has bilingual staff and offices in San Francisco and Shanghai to support this century and a half-long exchange of ideas and innovation.  San Francisco and Shanghai have been sister cities for 30 years.

The event also kicked off the Game Developers Conference week and celebrated the final day of the Lunar New Year Celebration month, giving final welcome to the Year of the Rabbit as a turn towards another year of growth and prosperity.

Also among the guests were ChinaSF Board Members, Strategic Advisers, partners, Chinese clients, and digital media creators and developers, and traditional lion dancers.

Our school was co-sponsor of the International Association of China Market Research Annual Conference in Shanghai last June.
