By publishing a serious, academic piece on Wikipedia, Professor Huxley and his colleagues are leading a new form of scholarly collaboration which underlies the rapidly changing face of knowledge gathering. Though not a “peer-reviewed” journal, Wikipedia is the source of information for millions of on-line researchers, and — in this case — puts rigorous, and internally peer-reviewed, academic information into the hands of the general public.
