Barbara Bush — in conjunction with Professors’ Larry Louie and Jen Miller’s class in Micro-Finance —spoke at USF recently as President of Global Health Corps , an organization that matches young leaders with non-profits working on the front lines of global health.

Professor Miller — finance team lead at Google, and CFO of Global Health Corps (GHC) — arranged Ms. Bush’s visit to USF and the School of Business. She was joined at the event by Charlie Hale, Geo Policy Analyst at Google and Co-founder of GHC; and Ajit Shah, Advisor to GHC. All three of these colleagues have been working on GHC since it’s inception.

“We live in an era of connectivity,” Ms. Bush said. “It’s important that we use that connectivity to connect people from different countries who share a common goal.” She emphasized the role of Business Education in forming “leaders who share the values of social justice.”

“We need to make sure that more young people — from around the globe — are committed to solving the problems of global health, particularly by connecting the private sector with the public sector.”

She took the opportunity to inspire USF School of Business and Professional Studies students, emphasizing the importance of social entrepreneurship and leveraging business skills to address global challenges. She mentioned that her organization is specifically seeking MBA students to be fellows in their program, and encouraged MBA students to visit the Global Health website. “Think about the Jesuit Education that you are receiving at USF, and how you can help make change for a better world.”
