Which programs offer a concurrent degree? 

Where are the MBA classes held?

May I enroll in the Accelerated Part-Time MBA or the One-Year MBA as a concurrent degree student? 
No. Our concurrent degrees are only offered in conjunction with our Full-Time MBA or Part-Time MBA. The MAPS/MBA, MSEM/MBA and MSFA/MBA are offered with both the Full-Time MBA and the Part-Time MBA.  The DDS/MBA is only offered with the Part-Time MBA and the JD/MBA is only offered with the Full-Time MBA.

Can I have a concentration? 
Yes, concurrent degree students may pursue a concentration in the MBA program. Given how some of the courses are “shared” between the degree programs, concurrent degree students should work closely with the Graduate Student Affairs Office in selecting elective courses.

Are there study abroad opportunities? 
All MBA students may participate in our Academic Global Immersion program, which allows students to gain real-world experience and insights into the political, legal, economic and cultural dimensions of doing business overseas.  Past trips have taken students to Argentina, Chile, China, Dubai, Finland, India, Turkey, Russia and Spain. 


 

MAPS/MBA

How do I apply for the MAPS/MBA concurrent program? 
Students may begin either program first or begin the programs concurrently. 

Students currently enrolled in the MAPS program must submit the following application materials to the MBA program: Online application, résumé, and essay. GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL /IELTS /PTE Academic score, letters of recommendation and official transcripts are not required for current MAPS students. Students must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in MAPS program to be eligible for MAPS/MBA program. 

Students applying to the MBA program first or applying to both programs concurrently must submit all required application materials as listed here

What is the cost for the concurrent program? 
The MAPS/MBA program provides a cost and time savings of up to 16 units and can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. University policy requires that all concurrent degree students pay the tuition rate of the program they started first throughout their concurrent degree coursework. 

What is the format?
MAPS/MBA students complete the MBA program in either a Full-Time MBA cohort or Part-Time MBA cohort.  Eight MAPS units are applied to the MBA elective curriculum.

What is the duration of the program? 
The MAPS/MBA can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.  Students opting for the full time format can complete the program in as little as three years. If students opt to take the program on a part-time basis, then the duration will be extended. 

Why should I pursue the MAPS/MBA concurrent degree?
The MAPS program provides students with an interdisciplinary, liberal arts background in the Asia Pacific region and prepares them for a broad spectrum of careers.  This program paired with the MBA program prepares students for a variety of careers at international service organizations, international businesses, consulting firms, Foreign Service and more.

MSEM/MBA

How do I apply for the MSEM/MBA concurrent program? 
Students may begin either the MSEM or MBA program first or may begin these programs in the same semester. 

Students currently enrolled in the MSEM program must submit the following application materials to the MBA program: Online application, résumé, and essay. GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL /IELTS /PTE Academic score, letters of recommendation and official transcripts are not required for current MSEM students. Students must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in MSEM program to be eligible for MSEM/MBA program. 

Students applying to the MBA program first or applying to both programs concurrently (to begin in the same semester) must submit all required application materials as listed here.

What is the cost for the concurrent program? 
The MSEM/MBA is a 74-unit program with a cost savings of 12 units. University policy requires that all concurrent degree students pay the tuition rate of the program they started first throughout their concurrent degree coursework. 

What is the format?
MSEM/MBA students complete the MBA program in either a Full-Time MBA cohort or Part-Time MBA cohort.  Six MSEM units are applied to the MBA elective curriculum.

Why should I pursue the MSEM/MBA concurrent degree?
Graduates of the MSEM/MBA concurrent degree program have a solid background in environmental management and business. The program integrates environmental strategy, sustainability and business management to cultivate the next generation of business leaders and environmental managers.

MSFA/MBA

How do I apply for the MSFA/MBA concurrent program? 
Students must first apply to the MSFA program. Students must complete a minimum of 19 units in the MSFA program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and not yet have their MSFA degree conferred for eligibility to begin the concurrent MBA program. MSFA/MBA applicants must submit the following application materials: Online application, résumé, and essay. GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL/IELTS/PTE Academic score, letters of recommendation and official transcripts from the student’s original MSFA application are on file with the Graduate Recruiting and Admissions Office and thus are not required as part of the MBA application.

What is the cost for the concurrent program? 
The MSFA/MBA program provides a cost and time savings of up to 24 units. University policy requires that all concurrent degree students pay the tuition rate of the program they started first throughout their concurrent degree coursework. Therefore, MSFA/MBA students pay the MSFA tuition rate for the duration of the concurrent degree program.

What is the format?
MSFA/MBA students complete the MBA program in either a Full-Time MBA cohort or Part-Time MBA cohort but are exempted from a select number of core and elective units based on their MSFA coursework.

Why should I pursue the MSFA/MBA concurrent degree?
The MSFA/MBA concurrent degree program combines the quantitative training required by the financial profession with the strong foundation of business management skills. With a sustained emphasis on teamwork, the MBA program helps you to develop an entrepreneurial approach to solve a wide variety of managerial problems in both startup and corporate settings.

JD/MBA

How do I apply for the JD/MBA concurrent degree program? 
Full-time JD students must complete the first year exclusively in the law school program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 at the end of their first year in order to be eligible for the JD/MBA program. 

Part-time JD students who wish to enroll in the concurrent degree program must (1) convert to full-time status before the start of the second year; (2) earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the end of their first year in the law program; (3) complete six law units in the summer immediately following the first year; (4) complete the first and second year exclusively in the law school; (5) complete the third year exclusively in the Full-Time MBA cohort program.

JD/MBA applicants must submit the following application materials: Online application, résumé, and essay. JD students must also contact the Law School Registrar’s Office to request release of their undergraduate transcript(s) to the School of Management Graduate Recruiting and Admissions Office. GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL /IELTS /PTE Academic score and letters of recommendation are not required.

What is the cost for the concurrent program? 
The JD/MBA program provides a cost savings of up to 24 units.  The JD/MBA program provides a cost and time savings of up to 24 units. University policy requires that all concurrent degree students pay the tuition rate of the program they started first throughout their concurrent degree coursework. Therefore, JD/MBA students pay the JD tuition rate for the duration of the concurrent degree program.

What is the format?
Full-time JD students complete the first year of study exclusively at the law school, and spend the second year exclusively at the School of Management in a Full-Time MBA cohort. JD/MBA students then complete the third and fourth years in both the JD and MBA programs.

Part-time JD students who wish to enroll in the concurrent degree program must convert to full-time status before the start of the second year and complete six law units in the summer immediately following the first year.  These students spend the second year exclusively at the law school, the third year exclusively at the School of Management in a Full-Time MBA cohort.  JD/MBA students then complete the fourth and fifth years in both the JD and MBA programs. 

Why should I pursue the JD/MBA concurrent degree?
This program is designed to provide law school graduates with an in-depth perspective of corporate business practices, and the business skills necessary to successfully manage law firms, larger businesses or non-profit organizations. With a strong emphasis on teamwork, the MBA program helps students to develop an entrepreneurial approach to solve a variety of managerial problems in both startup and corporate settings.

DDS/MBA

How do I apply for the DDS/MBA concurrent program? 
Students must complete their first year at UCSF’s School of Dentistry before being eligible to apply to the DDS/MBA program. DDS/MBA applicants must submit the following application materials: Online application, résumé, essay, official undergraduate transcript(s), and official UCSF transcript showing progress in the DDS program. 

What is the cost for the concurrent program? 
The cost of the MBA program is approximately $69,560. The primary contact for financial aid for the DDS/MBA program is the UCSF financial aid office. Students who do not complete the MBA program by the time they have graduated from the DDS program may obtain financial aid through USF. 

What is the format?
This four year program allows students to complete the first year of the program exclusively at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and to complete the DDS curriculum and the 56-unit University of San Francisco (USF) MBA program concurrently in the remaining three years. DDS students may apply to the Part-Time MBA program during their first year at the UCSF School of Dentistry. All MBA courses are offered during the evening at USF’s Downtown Campus. 

Why should I pursue the DDS/MBA concurrent degree?
The DDS/MBA program prepares students for management and leadership in the dental field. Whether students want to manage their own dental practice, be an active part of growing an existing larger practice, or provide leadership for another organization, the MBA program will equip them with the business foundation to make it happen.
