Juris Doctor/MBA

The JD/MBA program is designed to give law students an in-depth knowledge of corporate business practices and the managerial skills necessary for leading large firms and organizations. Awarded by the USF School of Law and the USF School of Management, the JD/MBA program provides a cost and time savings of up to 24 units.

How do I apply for the JD/MBA JOINT degree program? 
Full-time JD students must complete the first and second years exclusively in the JD program with a minimum cumulative GPA above 2.50 at the end of their first year and be in good academic standing at the end of the second year in order to be eligible for the JD/MBA program. 

Part-time JD students who wish to enroll in the joint degree program must (1) convert to full-time status before the start of the second year; (2) earn a minimum cumulative GPA above 2.50 at the end of their first year and be in good academic standing at the end of the second year in the law program; (3) complete six law units in the summer immediately following the first year; (4) complete the first and second year exclusively in the law school; (5) complete the third year exclusively in the Full-Time MBA cohort program.

JD/MBA applicants must submit the following: Online application, résumé, essay, and interview. JD students must also contact the Law School Registrar’s Office to request release of their undergraduate transcript(s) to the School of Management Graduate Recruiting and Admissions Office. GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL /IELTS /PTE Academic score and letters of recommendation are not required. 

What is the cost for the JOINT program? 
The JD/MBA program provides a cost and time savings of up to 24 units. University policy requires that all joint degree students pay the tuition rate of the program they started first throughout their joint degree coursework. Therefore, JD/MBA students pay the JD tuition rate for the duration of the joint degree program.

What is the format?
Full-time JD students complete the first and second years of study exclusively at the law school, and spend the third year exclusively at the School of Management in a Full-Time MBA cohort. JD/MBA students then complete the fourth year in both the JD and MBA programs.

Part-time JD students who wish to enroll in the joint degree program must convert to full-time status before the start of the second year and complete six law units in the summer immediately following the first year.  These students spend the second year exclusively at the law school, the third year exclusively at the School of Management in a Full-Time MBA cohort.  JD/MBA students then complete the fourth and fifth years in both the JD and MBA programs. 

I am currently in the JD program and have the letters of recommendation waived, but references are required in the online application. What do I do?

I am currently in the JD program and have the official transcripts waived. But a transcript upload is required in the online application. What do I do?
For expedited processing, please obtain unofficial copies of your transcripts and upload it to the online application. JD students may contact the Law School Registrar's Office to request release of their undergraduate transcript(s) to the School of Management Graduate Recruiting and Admissions Office. Those will be considered official undergraduate transcripts to fulfill registration requirements if admitted to the MBA portion of the joint degree.
