- 39% of our student body identifies as ethnic minority or multienthnic.
- 31% of our students are international in origin.
- Our most recent MBA cohort consists of students from 20 countries, speaking 36 native languages.
- Our faculty is diverse, and multilingual. Six full-time faculty members are native Mandarin speakers. We also have faculty who are native speakers of Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, German, Russian, Gaelic, and other languages.
In addition to the diverse viewpoints that this heterogeneous student body brings to all classroom discussion and co-curricular activities, the degree programs support further understanding of issues around equity, diversity, and inclusion through required learning experiences. Service-learning is mandated for undergraduate students, and undergraduates must also take one designated cultural diversity course. Service projects and/or social research are required in most graduate programs, supplementing other course embedded learning related to our social justice mission. These provide context through which faculty and students increase their multicultural knowledge, skills, and sensitivities so they may better act as agents for social change.

The Joint Master’s In Global Entrepreneurship Management gives students the unique opportunity to study at three Jesuit campuses on three continents — at IQS in Barcelona, at Fu Jen in Taipei, and here at the University of San Francisco. After one intense year, they are awarded degrees from each university.
Global Immersion Programs
Through Global Immersion Programs, our students travel the world — throughout South America across Europe to Turkey and Dubai — learning business and social culture directly from a nation’s leading entrepreneurs, national government leaders, finance ministers, local Chambers of Commerce and local mayors.
Students Learn About Global Immersion in Turkey and the Middle East
Professors Nicholas Imparato and Mouwafac Sidaoui successfully led their fifth Academic Global Immersion program with their winter 2012 class. This year, a group of twenty-four students immersed themselves in Middle Eastern and European business practices and culture when visiting Turkey and the United Arab Emirates in January. They spent two weeks traveling to Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, after an intensive three-month preparation period.
“The main goal of the program,” says Professor Imparato, “is to introduce students to a part of the world they are unfamiliar with, but which is important on several levels in the business world because of the roles those cities play in the existence of global giants like Coca Cola and Microsoft.” It is important, he says, to give students the opportunity to see a part of the world that is so often misunderstood, and that has recently been subjected to many stereotypes.
