Nations Within A Nation: Historical Statistics of American Indians
Includes statistics on topics such as land holdings, population, relocation, vital statistics, government activities, health care and education, employment, and the use of natural resources. These statistics are preceded by essays on topics corresponding to that data. For example, data on tribal land purchased by the U.S. (year and acreage of lands purchased and price) is preceded by a discussion on Removal, Relocation, and Urbanization. Focus is on 20th century and some 19th century data, excluding earlier periods due to unreliable records. This exclusion is a story unto itself, briefly discussed in the introduction.

Statistical Abstract of the United States

This is probably the most important U.S. statistical reference work because it serves both as a prime source for U.S. industrial, social, political, and economic statistics and also as a bibliographical guide. Source notes are at the foot of each table; a useful "Guide to Sources of Statistics " (at end) lists important statistical publications arranged by subject; there is also a "Guide to State Statistical Abstracts," and a "Guide to Foreign Statistical Abstracts."
