Provides detailed descriptions of 461 manufacturing industries (Volume 1) and 544 service and other non-manufacturing industries (Volume 2). Entries are arranged by the U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code. To facilitate conversion to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), an “SIC to NAICS Conversion Guide” and a “NAICS to SIC Conversion Guide” are provided in the back of each volume. Industry essays include the following information: industry snapshot, industry organization, historical development, current conditions, industry leaders, work force, global marketplace, research and technology, and recommended further reading.

Each year the WDR provides in depth analysis of a specific aspect of development. Contains graphs, tables, charts, and a bibliography.
