Who should use this database?
Students and faculty in the Arts and Sciences looking for older, full text articles.
What kinds of material are referenced?
The Arts & Sciences I Collection includes the complete back runs of 119 titles in fifteen disciplines. It includes many of the core research and society published journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also includes a selection of titles in the more science-oriented fields of ecology, mathematics, and statistics.
Focused on the arts and humanities, the Arts & Sciences III Collection contains 150 titles. The collection makes available additional journals in language and literature, as well as important titles in the fields of music, film studies, folklore, performing arts, religion, and the history and study of art and architecture.
What are the years of coverage?
It varies by title. JSTOR's unique mission is to archive the back issues of journals (which are usually unavailable online), and to leave the current issues to other services. Consequently the current three to five years of any particular title will not be available through JSTOR, but the entire backfile usually is. Here are just a few examples:
Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies, Vols. 1-55, 1936-1995
Journal of Animal Ecology, Vols. 1-66, 1932-1997
The American Economic Review, Vols. 1-87, 1911-1997
Journal of Negro Education, Vols. 1-64, 1932-1995
