Anyone looking for information on social sciences and humanities related topics in Latin American countries. Researchers may also want to use the complementary database HAPI Online (Hispanic American Periodicals Index.)

What kinds of materials are referenced in the database?

HLAS Online is edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. The Handbook alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities. It contains bibliographic citations to journal and magazine articles, book reviews, documents and original literary works. Most references are either in Spanish or English.

What years does the database cover?

1935 to the present. About 5000 new records are added every year.
