Title Changes

Follow the instructions in the title maintenance form routed from Serials Assistant or Technical Services Librarian.

For old titles:

  • Find old bib record number in OPAC and then find RLIN record.
  • Once you have the RLIN record then go into the stacks and find the very last volume received under the old title.
  • Close the dates in the RLIN record in the PD fixed field and the 260 and 362 variable fields. Then copy the line 362 field and paste it into the ANT field on RLIN HOLding.
  • Make sure to proceed the pasted segment with a : \and end it with a : \ and PUT the record.
  • This transaction is recorder under "Re-class/cat" for statistics.
  • When finished title changes route pieces and paper work to Serials Assistant.

For New Titles:

  • DERive an RLIN record from a good copy.
  • Make sure that the call number you prescribe is the same as the call number form the old title.
  • Make sure that the record has a 780 filed in RLIN, which shows the old title.
  • Do not include a LDA for the item record. Since the title is a new serial it only gets a check-in record.
  • This transaction is recorded under "New Copy" for statistics.
  • When finished title changes route pieces and paper work to Serial Assistant.
