Standing Order Records
For monographic series that are ordered
and received as series, yet cataloged separately, we create a record containing
at least the following fields:
Location: lord (Law orders)
245: Authority controlled, matching the 1XX of the series authority record.
5XX: Standing order notes (see below)
Add other access points (added entries, lccn's, issn's, etc.) that would be
useful for finding the title.
Attach one item record, so that the location of "Law orders" shows
to the public.
Key a record into Innopac, or Put from RLIN (do whichever is the fastest and
easiest).
You may choose to do, e.g., one of the following:
Search RLIN (cat) and find nothing (i.e., no bib records for the entire series),
and decide to key a record into the OPAC from scratch.
Search RLIN (cat) and find a good record (i.e., another library's bib record
for the series). While displaying that record, give the PUT command and delete
at least the following fields before transferring it to Innopac:
001-008
04X-08X
25X
3XX
We delete these fields to "de-catalog" the record. It is a record
used for ordering and receiving purposes only, and we want the record to look
like a brief record, hoping that patrons will then find the 'real' cataloging
records.
