Item Type Decision Chart

1--Use Itype 19 for code(s) or statutes, (not including an administrative regulation)in any physical format.

2--Use Itype 8 for item published to be stored in ring binder(s) that is not a group of loose periodical issues.

3--Use Itype 1 for loose periodical issues that will be housed in a box or binder and never bound.

4--Use Itype 0 for a multi-volume monograph (c.f. LCRI12.0A) if it's a CEB item with a "program" in the title

5--Use Itype 10 for a multi-volume monograph (main and suppl.)

6-- Use Itype 0 for a serial (in a book format), issued less frequently than annually or a serial that is CEB "program" title.

7--Use Itype 2 for a serial (in a book format), issued annually or more frequently, will be bound later, has --Periodicals in 6xx field and is a Law Reviews.

8--Use Itype 10 for a bound serial (in book format) that is not Law Reviews and does not --Periodicals in a 6XX.

9--Use Itype 4 for computer diskette(s) (floppies), monographic or serial.

10--Use Itype 5 for videocassettes(s).

11--Use Itype 6 for audiocassettes.

12--Use Itype 14 for CD-ROM(s), monographic or serial.

13--Use Itpe 15 for microform, monographic or serial.

14--Use Itype 20 for equipment (a tool, a machine, or part of a machine).

15--Use Itype 0 for a single monographic item that is not supplemented or updated or is updated by pocket part only.

16--Use Itype 16 for a single monographic item (for main item) that is updated by free standing supplement(s) and use Itype 9 for Suppls.
