Zabrina Aleguire

Zabrina Aleguire specializes in dependency, education law, and other civil legal rights for low-income youth and families. Her current practice is at Legal Services for Children in San Francisco, and she formerly represented adolescents and parents in New York at The Door’s Legal Services and Brooklyn’s Family Defense Practice. She has promoted systemic reforms for youth aging out of foster care, adolescent parents, and rural LGBT youth and families. Her current legislative and policy efforts are aimed at curbing school suspensions and expulsions in favor of restorative practices. Her writing on youth immigration remedies has appeared in the ABA’s Child Law Practice and the National Center for Youth Law’s Youth Law News. She also co-authored the Guide to Working with Young Parents in Out of Home Care, a manual for child welfare workers employed through New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services.
