Class of '08 Posts High Bar Pass Rate
Dec. 3, 2008 -- The USF School of Law Class of 2008 posted a pass rate of 87.4 percent on the July California Bar examination, a mark that exceeded the statewide average of 83 percent for first-time takers from California American Bar Association accredited law schools.
Dean Jeffrey Brand said the results are a testament to the quality of students and faculty at the law school.
"These results demonstrate yet again the extraordinary quality and rigor of the education the law school provides its students," Brand said. "We are blessed to have a faculty that is as good as it gets. This year's bar results are a testament to their classroom teaching skills, which complement their prolific and insightful scholarship."
The law school will celebrate graduates who passed the July 2008 bar exam on Friday, Dec. 5 with a bar swearing in ceremony. Alumni will take oaths of admission to the California State Bar in a ceremony in St. Ignatius Church at 6 p.m. There will be a reception to follow in the Kendrick Hall rotunda.
Brand said passing the bar is the first step toward alumni living the mission of the USF School of Law.
"Students deserve an education that prepares them to be productive, skilled, ethical lawyers capable of taking care of themselves and their loved ones while helping to create a more humane and just world," Brand said. "Of course, passing the bar exam is a necessary first step. Our values produce the kind of lawyers that make us proud and the quality of our education ensures that our graduates can enter the profession right after they graduate."
