USF Alum Featured in Modesto Bee
June 26, 2008 -- Jeeni Phillips '08 was featured in a Modesto Bee article that highlighted her experiences at the 52nd United Nations' Commission on the Status of Women. Phillips, a Modesto native, traveled to New York City to address the commission about preventing and combating the trafficking of women and children for sexual exploitation as part of the Frank C. Newman International Human Rights Clinic at USF. Phillips is only the second person from the Modesto area to address the United Nations, which she recognized as an incredible opportunity. "I was really excited," Phillips told the Modesto Bee. "Fortunately, the program I went through did extensive practice in front of my classmates and professors. We're the only law school in the nation that goes to the U.N. to lobby for human rights."
Phillips spent the previous two summers interning in the Modesto area, and will return to Modesto to work at Curtis & Arata after taking the bar exam in July.
