The University of San Francisco School of Law has come a long way from its humble beginnings in 1912 when it opened its doors in a small building on Market Street. There, a few faculty members taught just 39 students. Nearly 100 years and three locations later, the law school is now housed in two beautiful buildings, with more than 700 JD and LLM students, and approximately 40 full-time faculty and program directors who inspire students to make a difference in a the world, as thousands of our graduates have done for nearly a century. As legal educators, we have a responsibility to fan those flames despite the challenging economic and political times. Indeed, we are all lucky and privileged to engage in the study and practice of law with the opportunity to become the kind of lawyers that this law school has trained for nearly 100 years. To commemorate this tradition, the USF School of Law Centennial Celebration will kick off next fall. A full year of events for our community is being planned and you can stay up to date on everything at the law centennial site. A centennial book of history and photos is in the works, so if you have stories, photos or other historical items to share please email us at lawcentennial@usfca.edu. We look forward to connecting with you as we toast 100 years of educating for justice.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey S. Brand
