Dean Jeffrey Brand

Dear Friends

A host of USF law alumni events are in store in the coming months, including the annual Holiday Luncheon and a special memorial for the late Art Zief BA ’41, JD ’47. The Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 5 at the Ritz-Carlton will honor Eugene Crew ’63 as 2008 Alumnus of the Year. Gene is founding partner of Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP and one of the country’s leading antitrust and commercial litigators. We are proud to be able to honor him this year and hope you will make plans to join us. On Feb. 14, the law school will hold a memorial service in St. Ignatius Church to celebrate the life of Art Zief, who passed away in August. Art was not only among the greatest supporters of this law school, he was also a passionate USF basketball fan. And so the memorial service will fittingly be followed by USF Law Night at the USF vs. Gonzaga men’s basketball game in Memorial Gym. Look for more details in the coming months and please save the date for what promises to be a special evening for our community.

Giving Back

Class of 2009 Gift Campaign Kicks Off
For the first time, a USF School of Law graduating class is committing to 100 percent participation in the class gift campaign. As part of this pledge, the Class of 2009 has set a fundraising goal of $50,000 to create the Class of 2009 Endowed Scholarship. The Grad Committee hosted a successful 2009 Class Gift Kick-Off Party in October, which resulted in initial pledges of more than $22,000. The campaign is led by Grad Committee chair Jazmine Capulong and gift chair Keenan Ng.
