Dean’s Corner

_
_ Jeffrey S. Brand

The USF School of Law community has much to be thankful for during this holiday season: alumni, like our alum of the year Justice Maria Rivera, making a difference locally and globally; a promising new crop of USF-trained lawyers sworn in to the bar this month; faculty who are making their mark through outstanding scholarship and teaching. I could go on and on. At the same time, I don't have to remind any of you that these are difficult times. Affordable legal education is an endangered species. Student spirits that soar during law school while they work on human rights and law reform projects are at risk in the face of a collapsed job market. The law school's aspirations to offer a relevant curriculum in a changing profession and for a faculty large enough to support it are challenged by limited resources. Yet the work of our students, faculty, and so many alumni provides ongoing inspiration to work to ensure that the this law school is true to its storied tradition, true to our shared vision, and prepared for the enormous challenges we face. Thank you for your support of our work. Happy holidays to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey S. Brand
