The McCarthy
Institute for Intellectual Property and Technology Law and Microsoft
Corporation are pleased to announce their third annual joint symposium, hosted
this year by Time Warner Inc. This
symposium brings together brand owners, trademark attorneys, and public policymakers
to face off on today’s most pressing issues in trademark law. The conference will take place at the 10 on
the Park facilities in Time Warner Center in New York City on Thursday,
February 9, 2012.
The conference will
feature a luncheon keynote address by J. Thomas McCarthy, author of the
renowned multi-volume treatise on trademarks and unfair competition, and a closing
keynote address titled “Building and Maintaining a Brand Franchise: The Magic
behind Harry Potter” presented by Diane Nelson, president of DC
Entertainment.
Additionally, the
conference will include panels on social networking, ICANN’s gTLD program, the
Protect IP Bill from U.S. and European perspectives, as well as a panel on the
roles and responsibilities of intermediaries and rights holders. The event will
conclude with an on-site networking cocktail party.
We look forward to
seeing you in New York in February.
