In this panel, we will consider modern trends in investment practices including socially responsible investing (SRI), interfaith group investment, and shareholder activism. This panel will address and propose best practices that could work for this sector and consider their implementation.

In this panel, we will consider challenges and opportunities for addressing key issues related to the extractive industry overseas, including human rights and government contracts, security personnel, and community relations. We encourage panelists to consider models for oversight, their implementation and possible issues that may arise.

In this panel, we will consider most the critical labor issues posed by globalization, including in the manufacturing sector. We will discuss key human rights issues and challenges posed by CSR, including how players in this sector view the role of corporations, governments and NGOs. We will also discuss how globalization can be used in positive ways, highlighting models for improved working conditions and standards of living.

In this roundtable discussion, various panelists will be invited to come together and consider the various perspectives in the debate of whether, and how, corporate oversight should be conducted in today’s world. The discussion will critically examine new trends, such as the use of human rights assessments as well as examine the intersection of foreign policy and corporate responsibility. Best practices will be discussed, and factors that could hinder their effectiveness will be presented. It is our hope that this roundtable discussion will present an impartial view of the issue with a focus on proposing a set of solutions for how best corporate oversight can be conducted.
