Adjunct Professor
Adjunct Professor Susan Sakmar specializes in energy, international trade, and Middle East economics, and is the author of numerous articles exploring these subjects. Recent articles include "The Status of the Draft Iraq Oil and Gas Law," published in the Houston Journal of International Law (2008); "Bringing Energy Trade into the WTO: the Historical Context, Current Status, and Potential Implications for the Middle East Region," published in the Indiana International Comparative Law Review (2008); and "Globalization and Trade Initiatives in the Arab World: Historical Context, Progress to Date, and Prospects for the Future, " published in the University of San Francisco Law Review (2008). In addition to teaching, Sakmar serves on the board of directors of two nonprofit environmental and conservation organizations. She is the board chair for the Jane Goodall Institute and is a board member of Turtle Island Restoration Network. Prior to teaching, she was a commercial litigator in San Francisco and also worked as an accountant for Chevron Corporation.
