Adjunct Professor Popofsky is senior counsel specializing in antitrust litigation at the San Francisco office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. He has argued two cases in the United States Supreme Court including Continental T.V. Inc. et al. v. GTE Sylvania, Inc., which some refer to as the most significant case in antitrust jurisprudence in the last half century. Popofsky has argued more than 60 appeals and is a member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is widely recognized as a leading practitioner in his field having been named California Antitrust Lawyer of the Year by the State Bar of California in 1999 and ranked in the top tier of his peers by numerous professional publications such as Chambers Global, Chambers USA, International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists, and Best Lawyers in America (for more than 20 consecutive years). He has published several articles and taught classes to lawyers in dozens of Practicing Law Institute programs while also serving on that organization's advisory board. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Iowa where he was awarded a Rhodes scholarship in 1958, and graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1962. At Oxford, Popofsky was awarded a bachelor's degree in jurisprudence with first class honors in 1960.
