Community Tree Planting in South Bernal Heights - Friends of the Urban Forest 9:00am - 1:00pm

A group of 20-25 volunteers will assist members of the community and Friends of the Urban Forest staff members with a community tree planting in the South Bernal Heights area of San Francisco. Friends of the Urban Forest's mission is to promote a larger, healthier urban forest as part of San Francisco's green infrastructure through community planting, tree care, education, and advocacy. Since 1981, FUF has planted more than 47,000 trees, totaling 43% of San Francisco's street tree canopy. (Shuttle from USF available.)

Food Sorting - San Francisco Food Bank 12:30pm -3:30pm

A group of 20-25 volunteers will help sort and pack food that will be distributed to those in need.  The SF Food Bank is the largest distributor of food to nonprofit agencies in San Francisco, from homeless shelters to AIDS service providers and battered women's shelters. This year, the Food Bank will distribute nearly 29 million pounds of food, or enough to provide 62,000 meals a day. The service ends in a tour of the facility and a reflection of the impact volunteers make.  (Shuttle from USF available.)

Habitat Restoration in Muir Beach, Marin  - Golden Gate Parks Conservancy 10:00am - 1:00pm

A group of 20-25 volunteers will assist with Habitat Restoration at Muir Beach in Marin. Volunteers will help to restore the tidal lagoon and creek and to maintain the new native plants along Dias Ridge. The work will help to protect the future of the endangered Coho salmon, steelhead trout, and California red-legged frog.

Prepare and Serve Breakfast - Glide Memorial Foundation 7:00am - 9:00am

A group of 10 volunteers will help prepare and serve breakfast for the clients at Glide Memorial Foundation. The Glide Daily Meals Program has been helping feed the street people of San Francisco since 1969 and serves 750,000 meals a year.  Glide is the only program in town that provides three nutritious meals a day to the city's poor.
