Self-Defense Classes
The Departments of Recreational Sports, Public Safety and Residence Life have teamed up to offer free* self-defense classes to USF students, faculty, staff and annual Koret members. Others may attend these classes by paying the Koret drop-in fee of $15 ($10 for seniors over 55 yrs. and students of other institutions with valid ID). Learn simple physical and verbal techniques that you can use to defend yourself from a personal attack. Learn how to avoid becoming a victim of a violent crime by using basic awareness techniques.
Objectives:
Enhance the confidence and personal effectiveness of each participant
Promote good “safety habits”
Reduce the problems and stress of being alone out in public
Identify the central principles of dealing with difficult people, and suspects
Learn to effectively respond to motorists, citizens and the community

Cost: FREE*
*This class is FREE if your USF ID allows you access to Koret during the class time. FROMM students must have a Koret semester membership, use Green Pass swipe, or pay a $10 drop-in fee. Rec Pass holders for Koret (Gold, Green, Red and Orange) must use a swipe to attend class. Time restrictions apply for Red and Orange pass holders (must enter Koret by 2pm Monday-Thursday).
