Subject: Message From the Registrar

Dear Faculty Colleagues and Advisors,

As you know, the University is in the process of converting the student administrative systems from SIS Plus to Banner. Conversion will take place in phases. During the transition, and until the new Banner system is fully operational, both systems will be running and accessible through the Faculty/Advisor tab of USFconnect. Admission information, the Schedule of Classes and Registration/Drop/Add for Spring 2008 will be accessible on Banner. Similar transactions and searches for information prior to Spring 2008 are still on the old system, SIS Plus.
A full conversion of student information to Banner is expected in late January, 2008.

The Faculty/Advisor tab on USFconnect will have two buttons on which to click. The Spring 2008 button will take you to Self Service Banner where you will clear student advising holds, search the class schedule and view your teaching schedule and class lists for Intersession and Spring 2008. The Fall 2007 button will take you to SIS Plus Self Service where you will grade your Fall 2007 classes, view your Fall 2007 teaching schedule and class lists and run student degree evaluations.

In preparation for intersession and spring registration in November, University Registrar Colleagues and I have prepared a variety of training options. First, we have scheduled two training demonstrations of Self Service Banner as follows:

Tuesday, Oct. 9, 12:25-1:20, CO 114
Wednesday, Oct. 10, 3:45-4:45, CO 114

These sessions will be identical. Although it is not required, you may register for one of these sessions, titled Self Service Banner (SSB) for Faculty and Advisors, at http://www.usfca.edu/its/cit/training/register.html .

In addition to the above sessions, training demonstrations will also be conducted at up-coming school and college faculty meetings. These additional sessions will be announced by your dean. Contact your dean's office for more information.

Finally, web-based tutorials and training documentation will be available on the Faculty Resources page of the University Registrar web site, http://www.usfca.edu/acadserv/academic/registrar/faculty_index.html .
