Subject: USF Plans to Replace Core Admin System

Date: July 8, 2005

Dear USF Community,

Many of you may have heard murmurings about the big “ERP” project. For those of you not familiar with the ERP project, ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning and refers to our core administrative systems (Student Information, Human Resources, Finance, and Advancement). Our current ERP system, SunGard SCT Plus, is reaching the end of its life – we’ve had it for about 20+ years now – and must be replaced.

Starting next week vendors will demonstrate their ERP solutions on campus. We have selected three leaders in the ERP Higher-Ed field as possible candidates: SunGard SCT, Datatel, and Oracle/PeopleSoft.

For more information about the ERP project, please visit our ERP project website at: http://www.usfca.edu/its/projects/erp

If you have any interest in attending any portions of the demonstrations, please feel free. SunGard SCT will be first, from Tuesday, July 12 through Thursday, July 14, in Harney 232. The agenda can be found on the ERP project site noted above. If you would like to see the detailed presentation schedule, which includes the script the vendor will be presenting to, please e-mail me at forest@usfca.edu.

It is the ERP Steering Committee’s goal to select a vendor by the middle of August. We anticipate the replacement of our ERP system will take anywhere from three to five years.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at forest@usfca.edu or at ext. 2971.

Regards,

Beth Forest
