Online Virtual Lab Pilot

The Online Virtual Lab of USF is based upon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technology. To access the standard USF Windows Lab software, you no longer need to walk into a regular “physical” lab on campus. Instead, you can gain access to the full USF Windows Lab software suite through your own personal computer anywhere so long as you have three things; (1) a current Windows or Apple computer, (2) a high-speed internet connection, and (3) a valid USF computer account.

Note:  The Virtual Lab will be available anytime except for Fridays between 8pm and 2am for maintenance.

Lab resources

Printing in Computer Labs

  • We are currently transitioning printing in computer labs to the Pharos System. Information on non-Pharos printing is below.
  • Each lab computer is connected to a printer. You may also print to lab printers from your own computer via USFwireless (Windows 7 / Windows XP / Mac instructions). All labs have Grayscale printers, and some of the labs have color printers. Please see the table above for specifics.
  • Grayscale printing costs 6 cents per page, and color printing costs 30 cents per page.
  • To print to a lab printer, send your document to the printer and swipe your USF ID card (One Card) at the GoPrint station. The fee will be deducted from your Dons Dollars balance. For more information on One Card, please visit the One Card Office website.
  • Please do not print multiple copies of documents. Instead, print one copy and make duplicates. There are copy machines on campus and a FedEx Kinko's at 25 Stanyan St. near Geary Blvd. (415-750-1193).
  • Please avoid printing large files (unless you split them into groups of 10 pages or less) or graphics with a dark background. They can cause the printers to malfunction.

Reserving a Lab

  • To reserve one of the CIT labs, submit your request via email to cit@usfca.edu. Be sure to include specific dates and times, whether you need a PC lab or a Mac lab, and the purpose of the reservation.
  • To reserve one of the Cowell labs, the Rossi lab, or the Malloy lab, contact Ashley Conolly in the Registrar's Office at x6672.
  • Gleeson Library lab reservations should be requested through the ITS Help Desk at 415-422-6668 or itshelp@usfca.edu.
