Smart Classrooms
There are currently 40 Smart Classrooms in the general inventory, and there
are plans to add additional rooms every year. Each Smart Classroom is equipped
with a high-end LCD projector as well as wall-mounted speakers for audio output.
All Level 1 Smart Classrooms have a SmartBox mounted at the front of the
classroom. This gives the presenter the ability to project videotapes and
DVD's onto the pull-down screen. Also, at the Laptop Table, all cables are
provided to allow a laptop computer to be connected to the AV system.
Level 2 Smart Classrooms also provide projection capabilities from videocassette,
DVD and laptop computers. Additionally, our Level 2 Smart Classrooms include
permanently installed PC and Macintosh computers. Both of the computers have
the standard USF suite of software, full access to the USF network and internet,
and a built-in DVD drive.
Keys to USF's Smart Classrooms can be obtained from Classroom Technology
in Lone Mountain North, 2nd Floor from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm . In addition, the Lone Mountain Conference
Center can also provide keys to Smart Classrooms. Please call us at x6668
to ensure that we can provide the key to the room you have been assigned.

Policy and Procedures
Advance notice of at least 24 hours is required for delivery of all equipment,
although we recommended a minimum of 48 hours.
We recommend that you make requests in person at the Classroom Technology
office in LMN. For faculty and staff, requests can also be made by calling
the main number during regular office hours. USF ID's may be checked by Classroom
Technology staff members to ensure affiliation with the university.
Faculty approval is required for student use of computers and video projection
systems and must initiate the reservation request.
Smaller assets, such as CD players and cassette recorders, may be borrowed
by students without Faculty approval. Students must complete the Request Form
in person and leave their Student ID with the Classroom Technology Receptionist
until the equipment is returned to LMN.
The maximum checkout period for students is 24 hours or over a single weekend.
Faculty and staff may make reservations for 48 hours. Classroom Technology
management will need to authorize an extended loan.
Equipment will be delivered and set up by our student technicians. Deliveries
and pickups can only be made during our hours of operation. Please be advised
that while we do provide services to classrooms on campus, many non-academic
functions are supported by the Events Scheduling department.
Macintosh and PC laptops can be delivered to Level 1 Smart Classrooms, and
the policies are the same as the computer projection carts. Laptops are not
delivered to any other locations.
Late return of equipment is strongly discouraged as this prevents the department
from fulfilling the needs of subsequent borrowers. Habitual patterns of late
returns may result in the forfeiture of borrowing privileges.
