Learn basic photographic composition, lighting, and functions of a digital camera. Use free image-editing software Picasa (Windows) or iPhoto (Mac) to edit and prepare your images for use in projects. What's in a story? Whether the story is personal, educational or professional, this class brings together the tools to create a digital story to "emphasize personal voice and facilitating teaching methods."
Getting Started with Second LifeTuesday, June 10, 10-3pm Instructor: Jean Hewlett, Regional Librarian at the USF North Bay Regional Campus Far more than a game, Second Life is an excellent platform for distance education and professional networking. In this workshop, we will discuss the experience of offering university continuing-education classes on Second Life, from the standpoints of both instructor and student. Classes on Second Life do not have the sense of isolation that normally permeates online education. You teach in a virtual classroom that feels like a real place, and you can see your students. In addition, the virtual world environment allows an instructor to utilize marvelous immersive demonstration materials. This hands-on workshop will provide you with the terms, concepts and tools to get started building a virtual presence in Second Life.
