Getting Started with Podcasting and iTunes University
Getting Started with the QuickTime Streaming server (Click here)
This page is designed to help individuals who would like to produce and post media to iTunes University at USF.
iTunes University is a free podcasting service provided by Apple to colleges and universities. iTunes University allows faculty to post audio and video lectures, interviews, and discussions online, making them easily accessible to students through iTunes software. Students have the ability to subscribe to their instructors’ podcasts, automating the process of downloading and listening to recorded media content on a computer or iPod.
Preparing for Podcasting
Training
The CIT provides training in video and audio editing and production. View the CIT's training calendar and attend either an Introduction to Podcasting, GarageBand (Mac) or Audacity (PC and Mac) training to help you get started developing your podcasting content.
Recording
You can request that an AV Services' technician record your class, lecture or event. Use the Pre-production form or call 415-422-2008 to speak with the AV support desk technician.
Posting Content
If your podcast is already prepared, please see the following details on formatting your audio file for iTunes University. Also, please use the Request to post content to the Streaming Media/Podcast Server form to request permission to post to the server.
