Getting Started with Streaming Media

This page is designed to help individuals who would like to produce and post media to USF's QuickTime streaming server.
Preparing media for the Streaming Server
Training
The CIT provides training in video and audio editing and production. View the CIT's training calendar and attend either an iMovie (Mac), Premiere Elements (PC), or Audacity (PC and Mac) training to help you get started developing and streaming your multimedia content.
Recording
You can request to have an AV Services' videographer record your class, lecture or event. Use the Pre-production form or call 415-422-2008 to speak with the AV support desk technician.
Posting
If your video is already prepared, please see the following details on formatting your video for the streaming server. Also, please use the Request to post content to the Streaming Media/Podcast Server form to request permission to post to the server.

Media Formats
USF's QuickTime Streaming server will support the following media file types. If your media is currently not in one of the following formats, the CIT may be able to convert the file into one of the supported formats. Contact cit@usfca.edu for help.

Preparing content for the QuickTime Streaming server
The preferred settings for your video files should be set at that following:
