USF Connect relaunched with major upgrade Sept. 2

The USF Connect enterprise portal will relaunch on Labor Day, Sept. 2, with a new look, improved performance, and enhanced security.

ITS has been laboring behind the scenes for months to make sure all of the pieces that go together to make up USF Connect will still work correctly and that the upgrade will go as smoothly as possible.

This is the most extensive system upgrade at USF since we migrated to Banner Enterprise Resource Planning in 2006. "Unlike previous USF Connect upgrades, this is a complete platform change using newer technology. This required learning the new platform and rebuilding many back-end components from scratch to fit the new system," said ITS Enterprise System Infrastructure Director Michael Ong.  [Learn more]

PhishMe program keeps you from getting caught online

It may look like an innocent email from your bank, or even mimic a familiar website. But, that attachment you just opened from a ‘safe’ email address is a phishing scam aimed at harvesting your identity and stealing your personal information. Say goodbye to the phrase “it will never happen to me.”

According to USF’s ITS website,“ Phishing is the act of attempting to acquire information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money) by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.” The dangers of phishing are more than real, as attackers mimic trusted websites that you are familiar with, claiming that they are your bank, delivery service, or even family member. [Learn more]

Connect to university resources on the go with USFmobile

The USFmobile app, available for Apple iOS and Android, allows students, faculty, and staff to connect to a variety of university services on the go.

Here are some of the resources on USFmobile:

Now you can submit mobile device access requests online

Do you have to constantly log into the USF wireless network on your phone over and over again? Are you tired of inputting the same username and password day after day to access the online network? Well, have no fear–there is a very simple solution to this!

Instead of taking your devices all the way to Lone Mountain to wait in line for ITS Help to authenticate your device, you now have the ability to take care of this all by yourself, and all you need is a computer. With the new Self-Service NAC Filter Request, you can submit a request to the Help Desk to allow your device(s) to connect to the network without the need to constantly sign in–it only takes 5 minutes!  [Learn more]

How we communicate

ITS uses Twitter for service announcements, security updates, and messages.

We also maintain a blog and a Facebook page with computing and security tips, and service information.

The ITS website is organized around a Service Portfolio, which works as a guide to the services we offer as well as the Student Computing Guide, CIT Training Calendar, Computer Replacement policies, and more.
