New Degree-Seeking Student

Welcome to the University of San Francisco.  The International Student and Scholar Services office staff are happy that you have selected USF to pursue your education.  One role of the ISSS office is to assist international students and scholars so they can obtain the best possible experience from their stay at USF.

If you have questions regarding how to obtain a student visa, how to pay the SEVIS fee, housing, health insurance, what to bring to the United States, and more, please visit the new student Pre-Arrival pages.

International Student Orientation: After you have had a chance to read through the Pre-Arrvial information online, be sure to read more about the International Student Orientation (ISO) program.  ISO is a chance for your to meet new people and learn more about San Francisco and USF.  Attendance at ISO is mandatory for all new international students to USF. Please plan your trip accordingly so that you arrive in San Francisco before orientation begins. We look forward to seeing you at orientation!

SEVIS Transfers: If you are a student who is completing a SEVIS Transfer to USF, and having your immigration record transferred from one U.S. institution to USF, you will need to complete this process within 60 days of your last date of study at your previous school.  Read more about transferring your SEVIS record in the "Before Your Departure" section of the Pre-Arrival information.

English Conditional Students:  Students who have been admitted to the USF Undergraduate program but have not yet met the English proficiency requirement will need to take a placement exam upon arrival to USF and take English language courses until the requirement is met.  The English exam will be given during International Student Orientation, and all student should be present at this orientation for more details.
