The theme for IEW 2012 is "Building Cultural Understanding for a Healthier World".  We hope the events of the week can help stimulate cultural understanding in our own community and foster an inclusive worldview that supports the health and well-being of all. Submission deadline for the contest has passed. You can vote for your favorite photo in person on Monday and Wednesday at all IEW events, Tuesday and Thursday during lunch time at Market Cafe, or anytime online through the links on our Flickr site. Voting begins Monday, November 12 and will end Thursday, November 15 at 5:00 pm. Contest winners announced at Culturescape will receive great prizes!



International Library Display:

Visit the Gleeson Library for an international book display.


Monday, November 12th

Where We Are From

11:30am - 1:30pm. Gleeson Plaza
During this event at Gleeson Plaza you will be able to share aspects of your home country, home state, or cultural background that have helped shape who you are. Students will have a chance to create visual representations of their culture to be displayed on our construction wall.


Tuesday, November 13th

USF Internationalization Round Table Discussion: The Past Year

12:00pm to 1:15pm, Maraschi Room, Fromm Hall
Join us for a discussion of USF's internationalization efforts over the past year.  This is a great opportunity to share what you have been doing in your department and hear from others.  Lunch will be provided, limit 30 attendees, registration recommended.  
* This session is for USF faculty and staff.

International Trivia Night @ Crossroads Cafe

Building Cultural Bridges: Working with International Students

This interactive workshop is for USF staff and faculty who want to develop their skills for working with international students. This will be an interactive session focused on building cultural sensitivity and awareness. Register here.

International Games: USF Soccer World Cup

12:00pm to 3:00pm, Negoesco Field, Koret
Come on all soccer playing nations, get a team together and come play! Don't let your country go unrepresented! Join a 5-on-5 squad, or simply come watch! Tournament will take place at Negoesco Field (next to the Koret Center). Click here to sign up for International Games events.

Culturescape dancerCulturescape

6:00pm to 8:30pm, Presentation Theater and McLaren Complex
Culturescape is an annual event hosted by the International Student Association (ISA), with support from ISSS, that celebrates the international cultures at USF. The event is comprised of both cultural performances and cuisine from around the world. Tickets are now on sale at Market Cafe during lunch (11:30am - 1:45pm). The event will be held at the Presentation Theater MC Complex.



Saturday, November 17th

International Games: Badminton / Ping Pong Tournaments

10:00am to 2:00pm, Koret
Come on all Badminton and Ping Pong players, get a team together and come play! Represent your country! Sign up to be part of a team and participate in a tournament, or simply come watch! Tournaments will take place at the Koret Center. Badminton players may compete in either singles or doubles competitions. Ping Pong will be singles only. Click here to sign up.
